Kawasaki KDX 65 & 200 combo ??

I've decided it's time to let 9 year old Vonkpip learn how to ride and a Kawa KDX 65 looks like the scoot to choose. But I don't want him disappearing into the horizon so I reckon I need something to keep up with him...how about a KDX 200 ?? Any opinions on my choice of bike.
BTW for 2.5K extra you can get a street legal 200 with flickers , lights n speedo. Would this be worthwhile ??
I'm itching to have a Kawa Kombo for Christmas  ;D
