Kawasaki Z750S upgrade to manage cross africa trip?

I am planning a trip from JHB to Bots, Zambia, Malawi, Moz and back to JHB in the next few weeks with a mate. I have a BM650GS but I had this crazy idea of modifying my 2006 Kawasaki Z750S with proper tyres, some protection etc, and take that through Africa. Naturally you cant perform like a motorcross bike but on dirt roads me thinks it will suffice. Thoughts from the forum readers?
