KLR - pops out of 5th gear...

I've got a 2006 KLR with around 14 000km on the clock. Sometimes when I select 5th, the lever can still move up and down. Shortly afterwards it pops out of 5th. Doesn't happen everyday, mostly when loaded with passenger and luggage. Has anyone experienced this before? Any info qould be greatly appreciated!
