I had a noisy Cam Chain Tensioner on my KTM 990 Adventure. I phoned the agents and they said 2 weeks till delivery of a new one. So I modified the old one and went on the ride......
This is what I did:
I removed the tensioner cap cover and the tensioner unit inside. I then drilled a 7mm hole through the middle of the Cap and then tapped an 8mm thread through it. Took a Stainless bolt (a long one) but you only need a 55 mm bolt with thread all the way, and fitted a nylok nut and a washer. Then adjusted the bolt with my fingers until tight and locked the nut. NOISE GONE!!!
