I would like to hear from KTM 9x0 riders about their front rims. Rims seem to be quite "soft" and bend quite easy when you hit "stuff"?
My stock BEHR rim bends to a smaller / larger extent on just about every ride. I have looked around and the Sun / Excel solution offered by people like Woody seems like the way to go. I understand that KTM SA offer new rims at 50% of the retail price as a warranty replacement, which is fine but does not solve the problem....
If there is anyone out there who has done the job:
- Which is better: Sun / Excel. (Mine is black anodized)
- What width is preferred? 1.85" or the stock 2.15". If you went narrower, how did it affect tar handling.
- Or if you stayed with the 2.15" width, how much better is it off road than the stock rim.
- Did you change the spokes too?
- Any other comments are welcome.
I am looking at importing one of the rims described above, is anyone interested to combine shipment and save freight costs? Rims cost in the region of $ 200 in the USA.
