KTM riders are now learning what BMW owners knew long ago - that KTMs also run too lean.
An accelerator module solves lean running issues, improves driveablity and increases performance.
The AM5 fits most KTMs from the 690 to the new 1290.
Strict EU regulations call for the leanest mixture possible to reduce fuel consumption. Manufacturers lean out the mixture, especially in the rev ranges where they are tested for fuel efficiency. This leads to over lean mixtures.
Problems associated with lean mixtures are:
- on/off throttle, especially at low rpm
- "flooding" sensation when cranking the throttle at low rpm
- loss of torque at lower rpm, forcing rider to ride at higher rpm to get the performance they need
- rough motor
- pinging, motor running hot
- premature engine failure
The Accelerator Module tricks the ECU into thinking that it is 20°C cooler than ambient temperature. The result is that the air/fuel mixture is restored to optimal levels (from 14.2+ to one air/fuel ratio to 13.6 to one) under acceleration only.
The results are:
- cures the on/off throttle
- cures the flooding sensation
- stops spluttering
- more power throughout the rev rance, especially at low rpm
- more usable rpm at lower revs
- smoother motor
- cooler running motor
- reduces pinging
- improves fuel efficiency - getting up to speed faster
A consignment of AMs just arrived for KTMs.
Accelerator Modules are available forthe following KTMs:
690 - all models
990 - all models
1190 - all models
1290 - all models (R8, SuperDuke, Adventure)
Wonderful what a bit of extra fuel can do...
