Am planning our next ride, for the late summer of 2011 (August-September), with my son and my old riding buddy (all three of us on our KLR650s), from my place near Detroit, Michigan, to the most northerly public road in the continental North America/Canada on the Eastern Coast, and back.

We're leaving Detroit near the end of August, 2011, heading to Happy Vallye-Goose Bay in Labrador, Canada, then down to Quebec for a short ferry trip to NewFoundLand, where we'll visit the Viking ruins at L'ans aux Meadows, then on to Cape Spear, which is the most Easterly point of the North American continent accessible by road, then down to another ferry to Nova Scotia, where we'll do the famous Cabot Trail ride, then down into the mainland Canada and into the USA to see the Niagara Falls (again), then home to Michigan.

Total distance is 8266km, which we will do in 2 weeks, so quite an easy ride (compared to our 13000km Arctic Circle trip in 2008).

The best part....some very cool and remote dirt roads with no service/towns, etc for 400 kms. Should be a blast! We will ride the newly opened dirt road (Trans Labrador Highway Phase 3) between Goose Bay and the junction between Cartwright and Port Hope Simpson, which will be really cool.

They have some pretty heavy snows in the winter here! (Luckily, we will miss this in the summer)
