Laying down your bike **POLL ADDED**

Every time I've had a high speed crash, I have no idea how I got detached from my bike, or how the bike ended up in that place in the road at that angle. I have tried to lay the bike down once, and I think I did an ok job. I survived. It all passes by in a blur. Does instinct take over? Does the mind black it out afterwards?

Is there a proper way to abandon ship, and if so, how does one practice it?
