Bergie
Race Dog
I recently starting using Mapillary (www.mapillary.com)
It is an open platform where anyone can upload their footage (they keep the records for you for free) of roads traveled, and the public can then see these records of the roads you drove.
Here is a sample from the Baviaans kloof:
https://www.mapillary.com/app/?lat=-33.6659869&lng=24.3858718&z=17&pKey=YSIkSJ2aMUu6iE60EUdBkQ&focus=photo&x=0.5137480102986243&y=0.5621300084011658&zoom=0
The data is obviously only up to date to the last person who uploaded their footage, but in most cases the Wild Dog roads are not visible on Google street view.
They have fancy AI options, but I only use their basic footage storage and review features.
The uptake in Southern Africa has not been great up to now, but if the travelers on this forum share their Gopro footage, everyone can benefit :ricky:
