I read a question in a thread about Lesotho border controls (Check passport stamp!) asking how long it would take from Matatiele to Sani through Lesotho. That I know. From the Gas station in Matatiele to Sani Pass hotel: stopping for breakfast, elevenses, pictures and lunch: it is almost exactly 8 hours.
I have attached the track as it is probably one of the nicest sightseeing trips you can do in Lesotho without being on too much Chinese tar. Remember to stop for petrol at the Chinese shop at Sehlabatebe, marked on track. I did this trip on a TTR250 but it would be better done on a 650. Make an early start because if you don't you KNOW the afternoon thunder storms will catch you.
My advice for accom in Matatiele is Ian McDonald at the Meads ([email protected]) Ian is THE man of motorcycles and Lesotho riding, well worth a visit. Also see his site www.rockrabbits.co.za
