Going up Matroosberg and fu**ing it all up - Priceless
So we thought we're going to ride up a 4x4 track to have a look at the snow on Matroosberg. Although Lee, the guy at the office, warned me
I didn't think much of it. Wanted to see for myself.
It was a beautiful sunny day and most of us haven't been sleeping the last couple of nights out of pure exitement. I had to test my brand new
and modified engine guard along with some new rubber, Sack had to give the GS a shakedown after drowning her and Dustdevil had to put the
HPN's charging system to the test.
We were 7 bikes, Sack 1200GS - Dustdevil 1000HPN - Darthvader 950KTM - Airhead R80GS - AntonW 640KTM - Kreef 650Dakar - Michiel 650KLR.
I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Even from the office, where we had to pay R150/bike, we could see this was not going to be an easy one.
Anton did a splendid job with parking the KTM.
Right on top of Matroosberg! Or at least as high as my stupidity could take me.
Sack decided to turn back as I was making my way down again.
Just had to play in what snow was left after it took us nearly 5 hours to ride up that track...
Scooped up some snow to take to the rest of the party that waited a little further down.
The sheer drop on the other side of Matroosberg. Definitely worth the ride.
The last incline before the very top as seen from the sheer drop. This section is steep enough and has huge lose rock
covering the whole track.
On the way down. Trying to control the bikes sliding out of control was a hairy experience. Airhead couldn't stop and brushed
past me so violently he took a part of my number plate with. Further down I fell a orange size hole in the KLR's fairing. Damn!
This scoot turned out to be a day of carnage and everybody that went had a tough time to move on Monday morning
but it was great fun. Thanks to the intrepid explorers who came and rode the near impossible track.
