Imagine it is a glorious summer's day with not a cloud in the sky and your aim is a laid-back ride of the most scenic gravel road that you know of. Just to sit back, let the kilo's roll by whilst enjoying the beautiful views around you.
I would head to the following, based on past experience:
1. Loteni Road, between the towns of Nottingham Road and Himeville
2. The R396 between Maclear and Barkley East, passing through Rhodes
3. The R327 between Ladismith and Mosselbaai
4. The 7 passes road between George and Knysna
5. The R339 between Uniondale and Knysna over the Prins Albert Pass
6. The road between Stilbaai and Bredasdorp passing through Vermaaklikheid and Malgas
7. The R328 between Prince Albert and Oushoorn over the Swartberg Pass
8. The road between Kobus se Gat (a turn-off from the R328) to Calitzdorp
9. The road between Sutherland and Laingsburg through the Moordenaarskaroo.
What is your favourite, easy going (i.e. not tecnical), scenic gravel road to travel?
