Iconic Italian motorcycle brand Moto Guzzi has returned to South Africa after an absence of more than five years.

The first two new models to arrive in SA will be showcased at the AMiD Motorcycle Lifestyle Show at the Johannesburg Expo Centre over August 24-26.

It was announced in June, 2012 that Associated Motor Holdings' subsidiary KMSA had taken over the distributorship of Moto Guzzi, alongside another famous Italian motorcycle brand, Aprilia.

RICH HISTORY

Motor Guzzi, established in 1921, has long been a trend-setter in the Italian motorcycle industry. It is claimed to be the first motorcycle manufacturer to use a wind tunnel in its research and development, as well as being the inventor of the centre stand.

The manufacturer also has a long racing history: the brand has collected six World titles and won “more than 3000 official races”, the company said.

More recently, Moto Guzzi’s efforts have been concentrated on road and adventure motorcycles, including the 750cc V7 Café Racer and the 1200cc V-Twin Stelvio NTX Adventure bikes that will be shown at AMiD.
