After checking out all the various upper crash bar options and reading up other bikers' experiences with fitting and real life experience, I eventually decided to buy the Hepco & Becker upper crashbars for my 800 Adventure.
Dankie Chris en Amanda van DustRiders vir puik, spoedige diens sonder probleme. Alles gedoen soos en wanneer belowe. :thumleft:
My reasons for deciding on them:
* Well-engineered and neatly manufactured.
* They follow the lines of the bike nicely. They look designed, not like a stuck-on afterthought.
* The standard lower crash bars of the Adventure are retained and used as a mounting point for the H+Bs.
* The H+Bs don't mount onto the engine mountings, thus avoiding a destroyed engine case problem in an off.
I will post a complete install with pix as I go.
Today I collected them in town and will fit them one evening this week. I like a courier company that packages crash bars with a fragile sticker :biggrin:
