Pack Dog
This was to be me and SWAMBO's first real camping trip on the bike. I underestimated the packing operation and so we only kind of finished packing after 12 that evening. So I decided that we would not set an alarm for the next morning.
Next morning we loaded the bike and were on our way at about 9. The plan was to ride to Askham and sleep in the post office guest house.
Most of the route to Kuruman was uneventful and we had lunch in Kuruman spur and bought some supplies for the evening. Friends of ours would be joining us in Askham later that evening. They would be our support vehicle The people in Kuruman have a bit more time than what we are use to here in Gauteng so lunch took a bit longer than we anticipated.
When we left Kuruman the sun was drifting towards the horizon and we had little time to get to Askham. To our dismay we found the R31 that leads there was closed and we had to try and find our why on different routes. We eventually had our first and luckily last fall for the entire trip in some thick Kalahari sand.
We decided that Upington would be a more realistic destination and headed for tar since the sun was setting already.
Packed and ready to go.
First dirt road.
Nice soft thick sand.
Stopover in Upington.
