oily fluid on side of motor

I stripped all the plastic off the bike to give it a real good clean. i have noticed and oily substance on the side of the motor. it is coming from the bottom of the airbox. i opened the box and removed the air filter and notices this oily stuff in the bottom. very little but just wondering where it comes from? is it petrol? (but fuel lines look very clean). maybe the oily stuff they used on the airfilter replaced in recent service?
