Am i moving forwards of backwards?
Riding requirements :
Short day trips around the Garden Route.
50% tar and 50% gravel.
Mostly with my boeremeisie on the back. (She needs to be comfortable).
Reliability of GS? Transalp is almost bullet proof.
I like the idea of the tubeless tyres for easy puncture repairs. Dont know if i need a 21inch front tyre if i dont do rocks and soft sand , obstacles etc. Just gravel roads.
I have short legs and are on the tips of my toes with the Alp , not really a issue.
With some Mitas EO7 tyres on the BMW , would I be able to get by in places like , Die Hel , Baviaans and the like. I generally ride slow , but I like to open up the throtle a bit on open stretches .
I would love some opinions of folks that have some experience of either model of who has made such a transition. The 800gs is to big for me and i feel it is overkill for my requirements. I also like the gs singles , but with my lady as pillion I am not to sure about power delivery to get out of trouble should I need to.
