One of the nice things on the past weekend's Rallye Raid is that I was lucky enough to get a ride for about 30min on great dirt roads and jeep track here and there on the new SuperTen.
I enjoyed it a lot and if I was in the market for a GS1200 I would SERIOUSLY consider at least taking the S10 for a spin. My impression was that Yamaha completely "out-BMW'd" BMW!
Ito seat comfort, techno wizardry that really works and helps a moer of a lot - the BMW has been left behind.
I am not sure about the ground clearance vs the GS but it could be that the BM is better off in that department?
Dealer network is not on par with BM but definitely a lot more dealers than my beloved KTM.
The bike pulls like a ghost train - VERY quiet and smooth.
The ultimate feature however was the ultra high tech ABS - unbelievable!!
Whether on the fine gravel of hard pack - it brakes the front brake as hard as a proper MX/Enduro rider brakes a non ABS bike. Definitely major stopping power even on loose stuff! Dunno how they managed that!
Really in my future when I get too old for my 950.....
