To all rally enthusiast.
South Africa riders are getting more and more hungry for rallies.
The Qatar Sealine International Rally is a real tough one. If you ever think of doing the Dakar, this is the one to compete and get navigational skills sorted. The Qatar desert is unforgiving without any landmarks, only rocks and as far as you can see, there is nothing. Roads (HP) tracks cross each other all the time and every 100 - 1km, the CAP headings can change about 5-10 times. Pro rider from KTM, Ruben, got so lost the first day that it cost him the race. I got lost for at least an hour the first day which makes the day in the saddle extremely long.
That was only the first day.
Each special stage from day 2-5 was average 400km of hot, tough, hard, compact, stones and sand. At some cases, the temp reached 50 degrees.
On day three, my front mouse disintegrated of the heat and rocks. Had to finish the last 150km on basically the rim.
Dangerous - if you fall its going to hurt. Lots of big, sharp and loose rocks.
Overall, a well organised professional rally and not for the faint hearted.
