Range: what do you get on a tank?

Yesterday I ran the "17l"  Safari tank on my DRZ dry for the first time, on 471km's, there was enough left in the reserve to get me 10k's to the filling station where my tank took 21.6l to fill up - not bad for a 17l tank.

What range do you get from a tank? Excluding jerry cans, coke bottles, desert foxes, condoms etc.
