Hi clever fellas
I have a 3phase , 6.3kva genny at home.
In the past, it has lost residual magnetism and just magically after a few minutes running, kicked in again and produced a full 380v/220V. this was intermittent and it could stand for weeks on end and not be used and then it would start and produce voltage.
It does not run super regulalry and about 1 month ago, I had to flash 12V onto its field coils as it was doing the above and it started producing power again no problems. Now, last week, tried to use it again and no voltage output.
The 12V trick on the field coils doesnt work and I have checked for resistance on that coil for an open circuit and its fine (less than 70ohms IIRC).
Before I go and replace the AVR, which I really dont think is the problem, I am looking for any ideas from you clever folks to fault find further.
