Road from Nata to Kazangula

Help with info  please  on the tar road that goes past Elephant Sands Lodge in Botswana. We  are planning a ride up that way to Vic Falls.

Did the road 5 years ago and it was in a pretty bad state. Has it got worse or been fixed in recent times? And how is the border crossing using the ferry across the Chobe river ?
