Ok, so the time has come… My beloved Tiger has to go…
2014 Triumph Tiger XC SP (Special Edition)
24 000 km (all service, incl 20k done by Mike Hopkins)
SOLD
Haven’t added many extras, only those I felt were essential.
SW bashplate & crashbars
Orange headlight protectors
Handle bar raisers
Aero wind deflector thingy
Uni-filter
Triumph radiator protector
Givi topbox
2x tooltubes
Shorty adjustable levers
The E07’s is just about klaar, but after about 22000 km I suppose I can’t complain. I still have the original Scorpions it came out with. Probably done less than 2000km. Still in great shape and many miles left.
Even though it’s a special edition, the bike was bought and used for its intended purpose, adventure riding! It’s been around the block and with that, comes the odd “battlescars”.
Besides a sidestand incident in the Baviaans, I had one off. Not serious though; was making a u turn on our way to Verneukpan when the sand monster grabbed the front wheel and bike toppled over. Was so slow, I managed to climb off and stay on my feet, but it left some scars:
Broke the front brake lever (replaced both levers with shorty levers)
Broke the front indicator (replaced both indicators with smaller aftermarket ones)
Couple of scratches on the handguard & mirror
Rear brake bended a little (see photo)
Also broke the mountings on the front mudguard on especially bad Cederberg roads a couple of months ago. Didn’t replace the mudguard, but fixed it with Q-Bond and an extra washer. Can’t see anything and haven’t had any issues since.
This is a great bike and would have loved to keep it. But with the missus enjoying "this motorbike thing" more and more, it’s time to upgrade. If only I had the money to keep the little Tiger and afford his bigger brother….
