Our route took us from Barberton up the Louw’s Creek / Bulembu road and into Swaziland.

Piggs Peak to Siteki on easy gravel tracks.  At Goba we entered Moz and hit the Bella Vista road. This road obviously suffered in the Summer rains and was quite challenging in places especially with the presence of road rehab vehicles.

Salamanga greeted us with a road block (permanent) and one of us encountered Moz authority at its best – 40 minutes later and a lighter wallet..
We had some superb sand tracks all the way to Ponta do Oura. We arrived in time to find a cool old Motel and washed the day’s dust off in the warm Indian Ocean.  Plenty of prawns, DoisM’s and R&R’s – this is why we love Moz!

Next morning back to Maputo and over the bay on the ferry then on to the next ferry at Macaneta.

Macaneta Lodge for the night with a repeat of the previous night’s activities. Bungalow right on the beach.

Next morning the notorious Macaneta / Bilene route – once in the zone this was by far the best sandy section of the week. Absolutely sublime riding to Bilene and then a further 15 km to Nbanga – again a superb location with typical Mozambican food and hospitality. The best prawns of the weekend here and R&R’s on special.

Last day along the Lagoon edge and on to Magude. This gravel road runs next to the Komati River and ends close to the border. (Watch out for cane trucks)

What a privilege to be able to ride in this very different (from SA) and amazing country.

We did not have a single mechanical or tyre problem over 4 days and only 1 fall with over 4000 km between us. We are blessed to have this on our doorstep.
