Steering Dampers on BMW1200GS Adventure

I am curious to hear what people thoughts are on Steering Dampers for the BMW 1200 Adventure?

Is it a must have or a waste of money? If it is a must have what is a good brand to get?

I do a fair amount of touring on dirt tracks and sand and have heard a couple conflicting opinions about this.

Any one got any opinions?
