Last Saturday I bumped into someone I had seen around a bit, but didn’t know well & we started chatting bikes.. Turns out he was riding offroad with a group & invited me to join… cool…
Well I waited at the garage for a while & realized I had either missed them or they weren’t coming…
Since I was all dressed up with nowhere to go I decided to go exploring a bit…
Headed inland and there was a 50 kay marathon on, passed a few fit runners on their
way back, & a lot more walkers still heading toward the turnaround point…
its been a while since I’ve been on a ride, & was feeling a bit rusty toward the beginning.
Started off slow, giving it a bit more as I settled in.. Im always a lot more cautious when I ride alone, which isn’t that often anyway…
Soon got to the spot I had in mind & stopped for a few photos…
The winter grass had been recently burnt & it was easy to lookout for lurkers..
A couple of locals came to see what I was up to & were full of questions about the bike.
“ how fast, how long to ride to Joburg , range etc …”
I asked them about a road I was keen on & they gave me some useful info..
I decided to explore a road I had seen a few times & see where I wound up.
Stopped at this little gorge on the way…..

After a few more kays I spotted a very interesting side road & went to go look…
A short detour later took me here…

What a place – definitely need to walk down here sometime…

After a nice break, I set off again, not quite sure where I was headed..

Then suddenly I was back on familiar Glendale valley roads again…

Figured I should take a pic with something orange in it….

On the way out I stopped to explore an abandoned building id seen a few times, but always in a hurry…

Think it was mission of some sorts, but don’t recognize the star… there were a couple of similar buildings close by, one was a clinic..

Anyone have any ideas? They sure liked their concrete..
