How many have drilled hole(s) in swingarm to drain water.

I do water crossings and I noticed the other day that the pin for the shock (inside swingarm) show signs of surface rust, this pin is visible when you remove the rubber grommet on the side of the swingarm.

As others have pointed out (https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=15107.0) it is a good idea to drill holes. but how many have done this? any other porblems you have experienced by doing this.

I am thinking of drilling a small hole at the back of the swingarm, both sides if needed. I am however afraid of dust and all sort of other k@k to enter the swingarm but for this I can have a small grommet inserted in the hole to cover the hole most of the time - and removed for water crossing.
