I saw one of these outside my house today, so did a bit of reading on it.
It came out about the same time as the KLR650, never got close to the legendary status the Afrika Single did.
Apparently the powerband of the 250 2-stroke is quite mean and you have to hold on tight at 7000rpm.
Neat looking old bike. similar power to todays 650 singles, although the torque is left lacking.
