 I'm so privilaged to buy the 1st XT250 in the Garden Route. If all goes well, it should be in my garage by tomorrow afternoon. Why did a die-hard Honda guy switch brands to a more expensive bike with less power (on paper)? Well, it's actually difficult to say, but the following factors influenced my dicision:
1.   Although it's more expensive than the XR250, Yamaha seems  to be consequent with their prices, which favours better resale value.
2.   It's genuinely built in Japan, not Brasil or China.
3.   Excellent built quality and attention to detail.
4.   Tubeless rear wheel - ex Super Tenere !!!
5.   Disc brakes on both ends.
6.   Some little things here and there.
7.   Standard Bridgestone Trail Wings.
8.   Very low seat hight, but high ground clearance.
Last but not least I like the looks, except for the fugly taillight. Time will tell if it was the correct choice.....
