A month or so ago my tailpiece decided to do a rotation on me, end result plastic burned and melted-damage scale I would say 4 out 10.
So I'm busy with some spit and polish and decided to try the Brasso on the burnt area, eureka! Damage 90% repaired, polished afterwords and looks almost new.
Took a bit of elbow grease, you get the feeling there some chemical reaction taking place(soften the plastic), not sure if it will work on all plastics but give it a try!
Pic 1: after the first try, there was teardrop marks from the edge all the way down to the little wing.
Pic 3: had to remove the deep burns on the edge manually
Pic 2: end result.
Noticed that molten plastic removed easier than the non-burned
