Having been on the last canals&breedts nek ride organised by iamgigglz I was really bummed when the next one was planned for 6 May as I have mountain bike ridemaster duties that day. In addition there was all the talk of the "red line" on the proposed route and whether it was possible to get through and in particular across the Jukskei river so today I decided to go and check it out and maybe still contribute to the ride.
A little bit of time on Mapsource and google earth before hand and I had an idea of possible options to try..
I started off on the R512 side and took the original redline route as highlighted by iamgigglz but after first uphill it quickly ends in this so I decided to explore the other options I had identified
