Ok, Ok I am a bike whore â?? so shoot me.

Decided to return to some more dirt-orientated DS riding this year and have my sights set on a DR. Problem is that, predictably, no good second hand ones seems to be around when  am looking so I will probably have to buy a new, or near â?? new, one. That will costs some serious moola, which means that I must sell the Transalp.

This is a bike that is well known to the forum (because I am an aspiring forum whore as well ;D), but I will give the main points again for ease of reference. As is my habit I make complete disclosure of everything I know of the bike â?? not always good for business, but that is just me.

Bought it off Skillie in July 2008 with 3000km on the clock (belonged to his wife) with the long-term goal of touring Namibia and doing the Desert Run later in the year.

Bike was sold new by Honda Nelspruit on 5 November 2007 (I think the new Transalp was launched just thereafter), but is 2006 manufactured according to the VIN number. Apparently an old Honda practice that will be applicable to a lot of their bikes.

Started pimping it in August in preparation of my trip. It currently has â??

1. Touring windshield;
2. Touratech Zega Panniers;
3. Touratech crashbars;
4. Touratech tankbag;
5. Touratech chainguard;
6. Touratech aluminium radiator protectors;
7. Rackpack topbag from Bikegear with adaptor plate;
8. Handle bar raisers from Bikegear;
9. Centre stand (Hepcko and Becker) sourced from Big Ed.

Skillieâ??s wife is rather short and the bike toppled over a few times causing damage to the side shrouds. Following Bobnobâ??s advice I repaired them using lego blocks. It was a neat job (if I may say so myself) and you have to look very hard to notice anything out of place.

Had intermittent issues with the Honda Ignition Security System (HISS), but after a proper diagnostic and check by Honda it got sorted and has remained trouble free.

In Namibia I picked up an intermittent surging in mid-range which mystified me, but the problem was promptly solved by cleaning and re-affixing all electrical connectors as well as fuses.

The front tyre is a TKC 80 and only has approximately 4000kmâ??s on it and is in very good nick. I swear by those tyres ;D

Rear tyre was a new Heidendau which is now kaput after the same amount of travel and which I will replace before selling the bike.

1000km service â?? 10/12/2007
6000km service â?? 10/10/2008

Bike currently has 11500kmâ??s on and is due for its 12000km service which I will have done at Honda.

The warranty stays with the bike so any new owner gets a yearâ??s added peace of mind (up until November 2009).

All paperwork in order and comes with spare key.

So, I looked around. R49000 â?? R52000 seems to be ballpark retail prices for these bikes.

I donâ??t want to mess about. R 43000-00 (neg) to any wilddog or person referred by a wilddog including all the extraâ??s.

With all the extraâ??s removed â?? R39 000-00. If someone buys the bike as is, I will only sell the extraâ??s off thereafter and not prior.

These are forum-only prizes. Try beating that in the outside world.
