So a mate of mine has been bitten by the custom bug as well. Problem is he has never owned a bike and could not really ride. What he needed was a low , small capacity bike which was reliable , not intimidating but have the possibility of becoming something unique!!
This was his 2010 Tw 200 that he found brand new at a Durban Yamaha dealer
After riding it for a few months , getting his confidence levels and skills up he was ready to start transfei the bike. Tw's are huge in Japan with a wide range of custom bits available , here brought all the bits in from there , this ensured that he kept things bolt on rather than having to hack stuff apart in the garage.
First up was losing the square light and housing and installing a round headlight
Then the bug bit properly and changes came thick and fast , he repla ed the seat , removed all the plastics , and changed the rear light in indicators
It was starting to look like something now , bit the biggest changed happened last week when he fitted the extended swing arm , airbox removal, battery removal , k&n filter, hot cam ,and fitted a shorty pipe with a supertrap. He also stripped the tank and went all Matt black
Quite a transformation !! It's definitely unique and so much fun to ride around Town.
