Using air compressor in stead of high pressure washer to clean bike.

I have read on the forum fat b suggested buying a small compressor and fitting an attachement to wash the bike with.

What sort of an atachement would that be, where in the Cape/Strand can I get one and what price do they go for +-.
I am looking at a 50L 2.5hp compressor. Will that be sufficient?
How effectve is air compressors for cleaning bikis or cars?
