The TKC80 on my front wheel still looked fine at a distance but on closer inspection I noticed a strange wear pattern. The TKC has a knob on the centre line that alternates with 2 knobs sitting side by side, adjacent to the centre. The knobs on the centre line hardly showed any wear, while the 2 in between were worn away almost completely.
Surely the forces working on the tyre should be equal for both sets of knobs and once the paired set started wearing away, the single protruding one should have had most of the contact. Instead it looks as if the tyre contacted only on every second row of knobs
