After a few months of riding my new KLR, I have finally financed a pair of boots (Alpinestar Tech 3, size 10). The trouble is gear changes. I was riding in some heavy duty hiking boots and when I started doing that, I move the gear lever up one notch on the spline. The Tech 3â??s are even thicker at the toe and require me to move the lever at least one more notch up. Is this the correct solution? The lever will be at quite an angle and gearing down in this position would require me to lift my foot off of the peg. Is this usual?
