I’m seriously thinking of selling my 650 Dakar to buy a real bike. I’ve done some research and apparently the last 950’s (‘05/‘06) were great with most “issues” sorted and again the post ‘09 990’s are better than the first few years ‘06-08 when it comes to throttle “jerkiness” and other small issues. I’m not a millionaire and would like to stay below the R70k mark if possible. It seems you can find decent 05/06 950’s and maybe 07/08 990’s for max R70k. I doubt if I’ll find a 09 model unless its a high miler. So would you experts recommend rather going for the 05/06 950 for about R50-R60k or rather go for the 07/08 990 for about R70k?
Is the 990 FI a lot more powerful and “better/advanced” than the old school 950 carb or are they still pretty similiar? Would it be stupid to buy a 950?
