This is a very reluctant sale of a pristine condition 2012 1200 GSA which I bought in April 2018 after my son totaled my previous GSA in Baviaans.
The bike had some 19000 km when I bought it and the 20 000 km service was thrown in with the purchase, meaning that this bike, stabled in a locked garage under a dust sheet, has done less than 7000 km in 5 years.
I have two of the K25 BMWs and the idea was that once a year my Germany based son and I would go touring, normally we did the Buffalo Rally and then extended the trip but this arrangement stopped in 2020 with the COVID nonsense.
My son has since started working and then got married.
This is the full spec, double overhead cam version, with ASC, ABS, ESA, heated grips, tyre pressure monitors, spotlights and there is an instruction manual/service book with the full service history.
What has been done to the bike:
After a woman with a shopping trolley broke the left hand spotlight at a shopping center I relocated the spotlights to be above the upper crash bars.
Based on the evidence of the BMW GSA that my son had crashed I replaced the bottom crash bars with Roxfox items and fitted a full length Motorradical engine guard.
In December of 2022 I replaced the air filter element as well as the front and rear brake pads with SBS Street pads, none of this was required but my other bike needed the items and I just synchronized the services.
The bike has a brand new Motobatt MBTX12U, 12V 14AH, 210CCA, battery
The bike has Metzler Karoo3 tyres front and rear.
There is a keyed alike BMW top box and two Motorradical paniers with carry handles.
But for me dropping it at walking speed in thick sand and my son doing the same, see the left hand crash bar, the bike is accident free.
All the paperwork is in order, the bike is registered in my name and licensed to 30 April 2024.
I have today obtained a roadworthy certificate which is valid for 60 days.
This bike has a full tank of petrol and is ready to tour.
Reason for selling: Due to advanced age and a host of spinal and other injuries, I prefer to use my normal GS, thus the GSA very rarely gets used, and given the changes in the circumstances of my son, there is a slim possibility that we will resume our annual biking trips, but should that happen it would be cheaper to rent a bike than to keep up the insurance payments on this one.
