Finally I started writing the ride report for the hell. Iâ??m going to keep the writing short because I know nobody reads it anyway. LoL.
I was given the task to write the ride report and was given a load of pictures and videos. Iâ??m going to do the ride report in two sections. The first section from the lens of Generaalâ??s camera and the second section from the lens of Uiltijeâ??s camera.
Me and Generaal knew we wanted to go ride the Hell sometime and Uiltjie, Pad and Dusty decided to join in. On 28th of December I get a call from Uiltjie telling me I must remember its going to be hot in the hell and we should make it a quick ride. I kept this in mind.
So on the 29th of December the dogs met in Oudtshoorn in front of the Saddles. Ready to ride. It just wasnâ??t my day. I arrived at the meeting point late, because my KLR would not idle. After cleaning the clutch switch it seem to run. After meeting up with the other dogs we rode to a gravel road leading to the Schoemans poort. At 80km/h on a nice piece of gravel a dog ran straight for my bike. Bang it hit my left foot. I thought thatâ??s it my foot is broken. Gear lever bent around my foot. Quite painfull. Dog dead. Generaal stepped on the gearlever and bent it straight. Good thing I had the 2008 lever fitted. The old one would have snapped right off. I decided to continue riding.
The rest of the ride was quite entertaining with me drowning my bike twice at different water crossings. The one incedent was caught on camera the other one they had to come rescue me as the bike fell on my leg. KLR is really tough. It starts quickly even with loads of water flying out of the exhaust.
It was a hot ride with Oudtshoorn at 39 degrees, but lots of fun, the water is quite nice. LoL.
The trip took 9 hours to complete. For me at least.
Let the pics begin:
