KTM 990 Adventure
Hi, a buddy and I had two breakdowns within a week due to the same issue.  Sorry, did not take pics.

The wiring on both bikes got chafed where the loom and the throttle cables go into the frame directly behind the upper steering head bearings. There is a short horizontal frame member over which the wiring runs. Just follow the throttle cables. This is easily seen by taking off the "cubby hole", no need to remove the tanks.

On my 990 it resulted in the engine cutting out at full blast on a MX track, and on the other a positive wire and the throttle cable chafed through and shorted, causing the throttle bodies to go +12v and smoke coming out the right hand grip before the fuse blew, luckily in the garage and not in the middle of nowhere. Actually this happened while we were sorting out another problem. Gotta love KTM's!
