Back in the day I removed the "closing cable" of the two throttle cables on my then XR500. The reason for this was only because I have always liked a throttle to snap shut. I hate it when it doesn't return quickly and you have to close it especially if a big hit causes your right hand to come off the grip slightly and the throttle stays open, your might lose it. The throttle action of my Zaar was not great when I first got it so I cleaned and lubed the cables which made a difference but still it didn't snap shut. So, I have now removed the "closing cable" and the action is superb and with not even a hint of a sticking throttle, overrun, blow back or anything abnormal. Two questions: Why did Honda design a double cable system and two, is there a potential problem looming using only one cable?
