Geez Andrew, you ride that 950 like an enduro bike.

Who else would still take pictures AND post on WD while riding a rally, thanks, I'm really enjoying this report!!! :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

I seriously think that most of the people on this forum who wander a little off the beaten track from time to time can ride this. Of course having such a big bike ups the challenge and pickup factor, but with a bit of training to get fit and some sessions in a few technical places and a 450 or 690, it's very doable. Keep your head, have few mechanicals and focus on having fun and it's not inconceivable.

If you've dreamed of doing a rally, you probably could. Just doing one day and following along for the rest would be fun enough.

In 5 years time, it'll cost R30k before you've even got a bike, and even then it'll be cheap.

After reading this motivational....this is now on my bucket list of things to do. :thumleft: Thank-you

great reading your take on it!

I was also struggling with visability coming down the pass, ever 200m I was pulling out a roll of toilet paper form my left jacket pocket to wide the gogles.

Eventrually I just cable tied the roll to my finger
So much of win it hurts! ^.^

You posted about your battery on another thread.  I really appreciate what it had to deal with when you were 'up shit creek' (as you eloquently termed it).

What the Amageza now needs is better appreciation overseas.  Your videos & RR will be a big contribution in that regard.  This is a serious event with a character of its own & this is beautifully illustrated in this thread.

Brilliant report so far. I bet you are reliving it as you write it too! Thanks for this labour of love!

Its amazing how far 80km is when you have ride at speed limit. I think this is the most exhausting thing in rally - just looking at the ODO and working out how much longer you have to be on the bike before the bivvy.

About the batteries: Maybe take disposables in your trommel? That way no charging needed. Not sure how expensive batteries are these days to be honest.

Loving this RR. I have been looking forward to this since the beginning of the year. :thumleft:

Nice one boet. It has been a great experience living through this with you. I had wondered when I saw posts of sleet and snow in sutherlint wether you had taken the dork gloves with. Glad that they turned out to be of use again!  I've just replaced mine after three years of abuse. Looking at this makes me more than ever want to be a participant not just an eager voice on a transcontinental phone call.
