I know there were a bunch of blokes struggling to send routes to some Nuvi models and I seem to have figured mine, a Nuvi 500, out. I don't know if it has been discussed since but here is what cured my issues.
You need to use Basecamp as Mapsource does not have an option (or I haven't looked hard enough) to change the way a route is sent. Go to EDIT=>OPTIONS=>DEVICE TRANSFER and under TRANSFERING ROUTES select the STRIP SHAPING POINTS FROM ROUTES ON TRANSFER TO DEVICE and then uncheck the ALWAYS MATCH ROUTE TO THE MAP ON MY DEVICE WHEN TRANSFERING. For some or other reason, if I don't do this, I get a message that the "route has been altered to match the mapset on your device as it does not have the same maps as your Basecamp" even though they are both running EXACTLY the same.
