DRZ400e farkels - Tips and advice needed
« on: October 20, 2014, 01:33:59 pm »
I'm the proud new owner of a DRZ. I would like to add some bits and pieces and would like some tips from those in the know of what to go for and where to get it from.

1. Luggage Rack
(Looks like the Pro Moto Billet is the one to go for here)

2. Tail Tidy

3. Long(er) Range Tank
Not too big, though. I'm sure 17lt or so would do the trick

4. RMZ450 front fender

5. Two finger levers

6. Grips are quite worn, any good alternatives out there?

7. Black out rims.
Would prefer something more permanent and hard wearing than PlastiDip

8. Sticker kit to the tune of:

What else is there? Crash bars?  Case savers? Already have bash and hand guards on.

Tank: Clarke 3.6 Gal tank from Clarke directly or www.justgastanks.com

Tail Tidy: Edge Taillight and flicker mounts from www.wheelingcyclesupply.com

In fact, you could probably get most your items from www.wheelingcyclesupply.com

Should work out cheaper than getting local.

But you have to wait for it to ship from the States.

I got my RMZ front fender from Off Road cycles  http://www.offroadcycles.co.za  for R450(shipping included). I was lucky to find a 2nd hand Pro Moto Billet rack for a good price. I bought my long range  tank from Safari Tanks, it was expensive but worth it for me, the specified volume is 17l but it actually takes 22l.

Depending on the type of riding you do, you may want to change your sprocket, I changed my rear sprocket from 47 to 44, to lower the revs a bit on the longer stretches.

Which model DRZ do you ride?

Ps. if you find a tail tidy close to CTn let me know  :thumleft:

Thread title says DRZ400e?

Anyways, you will not find a proper tail tidy/taillight in SA.

Edge taillight is well and truly the best bet for a DRZ.

A few years ago, there used to be a SA supplier who did a "cat-eye LED" universal taillight.

A mate of mine had one that he modified to fit his DRZ, and it looked cool.

So you might be able to wangle something out of a standard universal aftermarket taillight.

I ordered my DRC Edge tail light through WOA in Centurion, Also got my RMZ fender from Conrad (Off-road cycles) IMS tank from justgastanks.
O and don't use SAPO to get your stuff delivered  ;)

As a matter of interest, what did you pay for the Edge through WOA?

Thanks guys. Helps a lot. Is it true that I have to go with the original Edge and not the Edge2? I'm sure I've read something to that effect somewhere.

@Louis: DRZ400e. Mine will get TKC's soon so I'm not too worried about gearing for the open road.

Got the invoice somewhere - I'll check for you, difference between buying of internet (postage) made it worthwhile buying from WOA
