How to register a off-road bike with Natis papers???
« on: January 24, 2015, 08:44:12 am »
I want to buy a WR 450 that is not on the road but it has Natis papers.
What is the procedure and approximate cost. How difficult is it?

I cannot afford to buy a bike that cannot be registered.

I am busy doing this exact thing with a KTM 525 - hope to have it all done by middle of next week and will then post the whole procedure here

Came right - actually very easy

All I needed was to take the bike for a roadworthy test and get a GVM (gross vehicle mass) certificate from roadworthy centre

Then re-register in my name and tell the dude behind the counter that the bike was roadworthy and it must be re-classified as such

done in a few minutes and new registration number and license disc issued

It is important to roadworthy the bike 1st before it can be registered

Check out the different options of lighting kits available for the WR - about R2000-00 to R3k
You may need a stator upgrade on the WR as well or you may find yourself kickstarting a lot  :thumleft:
