2DR's a KLR and a XR-R goes to Swazi
« on: March 09, 2015, 03:05:50 pm »
The plan: lets go to Swaziland for a weekend for a ride.
Date: last weekend of Feb, 27 - 1 March.

Sounds fairly simple and definitely doable!

Until I get the call on Thursday (26 Feb) that the seal on the counter shaft of the KLR is not sealing anymore... (why? lets call it a maintenance oops)

Well with half a day still to get this sorted before we leave, we continue with the plans...
a very long story short: after every person that has something to do with a KLR has been contacted /plan b: we all ride a 5L oil extra/a 140km round trip it was 5:30pm on Friday evening and the bikes is on the back of the bakkie, new seal fitted. :ricky:

We get to the Oshoek border post at about 20:00 to be welcomed by a end of the month queue of note!
The border crossing took a pleasant 2:30, but we where in swazi.

After getting lost we arrived at Bombazo's back packers in Mbabane @ about 24:00 to find the other two was already sleeping.

Klapped a couple of black lables, shared the story of getting there and went to bed.

Now this is the view one should have the when you wake up in swazi and get out of your room!!!!!!!

 :ricky: :ricky: :ricky:

I could agree with you! But then we both would be wrong.....

Political Correctness is a doctrine, recently fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end!

So whan did we do next?
 :ricky: :ricky: :ricky:

We left Mbabane on our way to Mr Greenwoods, where we will be spending the nite then heading back to Bombazoís on Sunday to get the trailer  etc.
I could agree with you! But then we both would be wrong.....

After exactely 30km and about 2hours of riding we were coming up the side of a hill, trying to choose the best erosion rut up, when I felt a slight jerk, but didnít take too much notice of it and continued up till I heard the anxious horn of the bike behind me.

Thatís when I heard the following: Bro I think your bike is leaking oil.
 :'( :'(

I NICKED A ROCK OM MY WAY UP ON THE WORST POSSIBLE SPOT!

Now for those of you that has seen the movie Snatch, you will recall the scene where they where the question was asked:

Like proper F*ucked Turkish?

That was pretty much what I was!

This was our only way out. (the first one is with zoom, the second with out)

They way back was also not a option.

luckily, between the 4 of us we had the following:

Wire
Pratley putty
1L oil
smokes (just Stuyvesant, not the local brand)
some chow
cable ties
leatherman

The result:

forgot to mention, we took the bolts from my front brake lever since they where the same size but longer than the ones that broke out of the clutch cover, so at least we could get some tension on two of the 3 fastening places.

this however meant that my front brake leaver was now fix with cable ties....
