New Africa Twin - so who's buying one?
« on: May 26, 2015, 03:16:20 am »
Yes, it's new and yes there are many questions and endless speculation, but based upon what we feel about the potential of this bike, please feel free to take the pole.

I vote for option 1.

1978. It's 6am, mid winter...two up on a XL 185S ... off to my first casino ever with all of R40 and we've got a full tank of fuel, so enough to get there we reckon.... that's determination...

Old bike: '82 Eddie Lawson Replica Replica.
Other bike: '05 Honda Varadero 1000
New bike: '16 Honda Africa Twin.

If the speculative numbers are accurate (200kg,100hp,R170k) and my emigration plans don't go any further then yes, I'm in.

That is just so unfortunate - my experience has been the opposite.

Didn't you also say recently that the KTM 690 was the worst bike you had ever owned?
How can I be lost if I've got nowhere to go?

I did indeed, and I stick by that.

The last Honda I owned was a very low hour 2004 CR250R which I just could not get it to run right; I even went to the extent of buying a brand new Keihnin carb from JD Jetting to replace the original Mikuni. This carb came set-up for the CR and was pre-jetted for the bike at sea level and still the bike ran like crap. I eventually had enough and replaced it with a RM250.
