Great holiday destination, I would say. You need 3-5 weeks to see this country properly.

"Help you?"
"Yes, help me...."

"Help me economically..."
"I'm sorry I don't understand - what do you mean help me economically?" :evil6:
"Er...Uhm...Ah...well you see, we chased you so far, and now we don't have enough petrol to get back.."
Cant get away from this no matter how far you ride.  ::)

Hi dogs, I rode my 93 BMW R100GS from Canada to South America a few years ago and it was great.  Best part was getting out of Lima and heading though the mountains to Nazca and on to Cusco, and finally through mountain roads to a little village called Santa Maria and Santa Theresa which is very close to Machu Picchu, which itself is very nice even for someone who doesn't normally go that much for mass-visited arch. sites.
Can pass on my insights on question and answer basis, also I wrote a story on the Machu Picchu part with great pics in Road Bike, if anyone wants me to send by PDF.

Cheers,
Larry

Here is a great article about the jungle city of Iquitos.
