990 shock in 950 - will it fit?

Not a happy camper right now 

I sent my shock in to KTM for repair 2 weeks ago and it's gonna take another 2 weeks, at least, for them to fix it ......... spares/customs/blah blah blah ......

Anyways, bashing a dealer is not what this thread is for ...... I need to make a plan.

I can (probably) borrow a shock from a friend's spare 990 - will it fit in a 950 s. As yet, I don't know whether the 990 is an S or R or whatever, but it's not a tall bike.

And if so, will dropping the forks through the clamps compensate for the change in shock length?

I've had to can this month's short trip and my next 1 is in 3 weeks to EC - can't miss that one!!!
