So she's home ....picked her up in Durbanville yesterday and rode her home in the rain.  >:(....not that I'm complaining mind you).
No issues that I can hear ....She runs true and straight so there's nothing bent, and she feels planted and steady. I took her up to 160 km/h with no issues so I'm happy there are no handling issues. Her engine sounds a bit rattily but I'm sure a tappet set and throttle body balance will sort that out. Gear box feels good (It has the normal agricultural clunkiness of the 1150) and the clutch is fine. She started with one prod of the starter and the previous owner told me she hadn't run in two weeks, he had'nt  charged the battery in that time, so I think the battery issue is a non issue.
I measured the front rotor thickness when I got home and they are definitely in spec ....so Mellow Jo ...I think you are right ...a set of 1mm stainless steel washers should sort out the floating disc problem.
Last night I whipped off the tank, to check the state of the wiring. As I expected the insulation of the loom is in a shocking state. I don't know why BMW uses such crap. I peeled away all the old perished rubber and will replace it with self vulcanising tape and that twirly plastic stuff. the actual wiring is in good nick.
The rest of the bike is in pretty good nick and every thing works. The road worthy had been done and I registered her in my name with no issues. I must say ...a more honest seller you could not find. He also threw an Airhawk 2 Seat and a set of braided brake hoses into the deal. So I'm pretty chuffed so far.

The top box and handle bar bag were part of the deal .....and the oil leak in the first Pic is from my wife's car.
I also discovered that the bent front carrier frame is in fact not bent ....the poor alignment of the beak and tank was caused by someone not fitting the rubber connecting strips properly.

So at the end of the day , all this pig needs is a rear tool kit, a dammm good service and the wiring loom tarted up a bit.

Try Andrew King (Kingtek) 0218014323. I think Scorch and Powerflow in Natal somewhere.
It seems as if that bike has been well cared for judging from the photos.

I don't know why BMW uses such crap.

I think they never anticipated how long these models would last

I like the Powerflow, it uses the same mounting points as the stock Cat, it doesn't just hang off the headers.  8)

Bike and particularly the seats look nice, we were all a bit negative about the code 3, we hadn't seen pics and the blinder was the twisted front end which wasnt ::) 8) .

Coxwain, I tried the self vulcanizing tape route, its a kark idea, you tend to pull the loom due to the nature of the tape and its extremely difficult to get a good even finish.

I stripped mine and used proper wiring loom fabric tape, its much easier to get a good even finish and you dont tend to pull on the loom so much.
